Mindset and... the truth of "What You Focus On Expands"

Have you ever heard the quote “what you focus on expands”?  Oh man is it true!  I wanted to just tell you a bit about this week, and maybe it will give you some hope that with a little deep diving into your soul, you can start seeing the changes and improvements you so crave, mama.

I have been discovering a lot about myself lately, through prayer, meditation, reading awesome books and listening to podcasts by people I truly admire.  At the core of this has been my Joy Practice, which I crafted very carefully, taking into account my values and the feeling that I want for my life throughout this year.  And it’s resulted in more personal growth than ever for me, in just the past 4 weeks.  One of the things I’ve discovered about myself is about mindset, and how sometimes I have certain beliefs that trick me into thinking I can’t play full out or achieve really the wildest of my dreams.  Sounds familiar, doesn't it?  We all have limiting beliefs and sometimes it takes some work to get to the bottom of them, let alone get past them!

You always hear this all takes PRACTICE.  I even say it myself in my Coaching role.  Practice, practice, practice.  It applies to so much.  Well, practicing having a growth mindset pays off.  It's been paying off for me lately.  And you know what else?  Practicing believing in the possibility of abundance is starting to pay its dividends too.  They key lies in how you view seemingly trivial things that happen in the day to day.  For me, it’s the difference between thinking something was just luck or coincidence, and seeing that same thing as a beautiful sign that if I focus on abundance and direct my energy towards it, I will actually start living in abundance.

By way of example, just this week I have found 2 parking spots I wanted in the garage at the train station, even though based on my arrival time at the garage, I should have ended up two floors higher.  No biggie, right?  But why not think it’s a biggie?  It puts you in such a better mood to think about it as a big deal!  It will have a ripple effect into the many experiences you will encounter throughout the day, and you will show up to each in a higher level of energy.

I also decided to wear a pair of jeans I hadn’t worn in months, and when I felt a piece of what seemed like an old grocery list, I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be cool if it was money?” and smiled… only to find out if was $3!  I could have just thought "I bet this isn't gonna be money, because I'm never lucky like that".  But that wasn't what I did.  And because of it, when I realized it was actually money, I didn't just think, "Oh whatever, this happens all the time to people." I thought, "Woohoo!  3 bucks!  Party time!" (Ok not exactly those words, but you catch my drift, I was excited and I even messaged my good friend to share the news!). In any event, just thinking about this surprise as a small miracle of sorts is way better than chalking it up to nothing special.  It raised my energy and positioned me for a better day.

What you Focus on Expands.  Try It. You won't regret it.

XOXO

P.S.  I recently ran a 10-day challenge in my community, The Joy Village, through which a bunch of beautiful mamas and I co-created our Joy Practices, and this is something I can do with you during 1:1 coaching as well.  I'd love to chat more about what working together could look like to see if it's a fit for you!  Schedule a clarity call HERE.  You have nothing to lose and no obligation, but you might just be able to take a peek at what life with more JOY could look like for you!
